Extreme Bowling To Benefit COM Scholarship Fund

The USA College of Medicine chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is hosting the second annual Relay for Regan Extreme Bowling Invitational. The event, which raises money for the Regan Robinson-Young Memorial Scholarship, will take place Oct. 15, 2009, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at AMC Florida Lanes.

The Regan Robinson-Young Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 after the medical student it is named for died of colon cancer just months short of graduation. She was 26.

Robinson-Young, a graduate of Auburn University, entered medical school at USA in 2002. She was diagnosed during her second year of medical school at the age of 23. Because of her dedication to school and the medical profession, she chose to continue her studies.

Robinson-Young was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and SNMA. As a member of SNMA, she spearheaded numerous service activities, including Light the Night and community HIV/AIDS awareness forums.

Robinson-Young received her doctorate of medicine posthumously. Her story of persistence and loyalty continues to be an inspiration for the university and the community.
The Relay for Regan Extreme Bowling Invitational is $20 per person or $120 per team. Each team can have up to six members. Awards will be given to the top bowling team and the team to raise the most money. All proceeds will go toward the Regan Robinson-Young Memorial Scholarship.
