The University of South Alabama College of Medicine chapter of the American Medical Association (AMA) will present “Healthcare Providers and LGBTI Health” on March 20, 2017.
Dr. Jesse Ehrenfeld, director of the Vanderbilt Program for LGTBI Health at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., will deliver two lectures focusing on health issues within the LGBTI community, including how health care providers can address the particular health concerns of LGBTI patients.
Dr. Ehrenfeld’s first presentation will begin at 12 noon in the first floor auditorium in the Medical Sciences Building. Medical students, nursing students, PA students, SW students and other health professionals are invited to attend this lecture.
The second presentation – for USA residents and faculty – will take place in the second floor auditorium of USA Medical Center from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, an AMA Board of Trustee member and a founding member of Doctors and Lawyers for Healthcare Reform, Dr. Ehrenfeld currently serves as a professor of anesthesiology, surgery, bioinformatics and public policy at Vanderbilt University. He is the co-author of the book “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Healthcare.”
