USA Welcomes Certified Nurse Midwife


Jo Ellen Roberson, M.S.N., CNM, recently joined the University of South Alabama department of obstetrics and gynecology.  Roberson is a certified nurse midwife who will practice at the USA Center for Women’s Health and USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital.

“Jo Ellen compliments our faculty practice,” said Danny Rickert, practice director for the USA department of obstetrics and gynecology.  “Her patients enjoy the midwife delivery experience with the support of our experienced faculty and the resources available at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital.”

Roberson has more than 25 years of experience.  Prior to joining the USA department of obstetrics and gynecology, Roberson served as a nursing supervisor at both Lane County Public Health and at North Mississippi Medical Center. She also served as a program nurse manager at South Carolina department of health and environmental control for seven years.

Roberson received her nursing education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala., and completed her master’s of science in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala.
