The lecture, titled "Protecting the Lung from Aspergillus Fumigatus Infection: New Concepts in Fungal Pathogenesis and Host Defense," will take place April 11, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the Medical Sciences Building auditorium on USA’s main campus.
Aspergillus fumigatus is an environmental mold that propagates itself by the release into the air of high concentrations of spores, which are unavoidably inhaled. Patients who are immunosuppressed, such as cancer or transplant patients, are at increased risk for infection with these spores.
