This week, Dr. Crisostomo Baliog, assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, presented the March Med School Café lecture.
The lecture, "Lupus: Fact or Fiction? Things Patients Should Know but Are Afraid to Ask," had a total of 82 attendees.
At the lecture, Dr. Baliog discussed systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a long-term autoimmune disorder. During the talk, he discussed common clinical presentations of SLE, what causes it, common misconceptions, and current treatment. He also gave an introduction of the planned dedicated Lupus Clinic in the Mastin Building at the USA Medical Center campus.
