Wellness Council hosts crawfish boil

for a crawfish boil, sponsored by the Wellness Council.
The Wellness Council at the Whiddon College of Medicine recently hosted a crawfish boil at the home of Tim Gilbert, Ed.D., associate dean for accreditation and planning. Students and their guests enjoyed a beautiful Saturday afternoon eating crawfish and socializing in Gilbert’s backyard on Dog River in Mobile County.

Macy Mccollister, a first-year medical student and member of the Wellness Council, said, “The crawfish boil provided an opportunity to take a break from school and spend time outside with friends and faculty. It was great to see people from each class come together and have fun.”

About 125 people attended the wellness event, including students from all four cohorts of the M.D. program, Ph.D. students from the Basic Medical Sciences Graduate Program, as well as faculty and staff. The Wellness Council provided koozies as souvenirs.

“The Wellness Council this year worked hard to bring back big events from the past, starting with the Art of Medicine event in the fall and now the crawfish boil this spring,” said Becky Smith, Ph.D., health and wellness counselor at the Whiddon College of Medicine. “We are looking forward to making this an annual wellness event for the College of Medicine.”
