USA College of Medicine Welcomes Dr. Paul Rider


Dr. Paul F. Rider was recently appointed as assistant professor of surgery at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and will serve in the division of colorectal surgery.

He has advanced training in colorectal surgery. While he treats all conditions related to the colon and rectum, some of his areas of expertise include surgical management of colon cancer, rectal cancer and rectal prolapse.

Dr. Rider graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a bachelor of arts degree in economics. He earned his medical degree from USA.

Dr. Rider conducted his surgery residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., where he received the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award. In addition, he completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Ochsner Health System in New Orleans.

Dr. Rider is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
