Dr. Lewis G. Coumanis was recently appointed assistant professor of radiology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He is an interventional radiologist and will join the USA division of interventional radiology.
Interventional radiology is a subspecialty of radiology in which minimally invasive procedures are performed using image guidance. Interventional radiologists are involved in both the diagnosis and treatment of a disease.
Dr. Coumanis earned his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. He earned his medical degree from USA, where he also completed radiology residency training.
Following his residency, Dr. Coumanis completed a radiology fellowship in the department of vascular and interventional radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Coumanis is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the Alabama Academy of Radiology, the American Medical Association, and the Mobile County Medical Society.
