Dr. Martinez Honored by Hispanic American Business Association of the Gulf Coast

Dr. Jose Martinez (right), professor of pediatrics at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, recently received the Medicine and Science Award given by the Hispanic American Business Association of the Gulf Coast.

The award was presented to Dr. Martinez at the association's fourth annual meeting and awards ceremony on Oct. 19, 2012.

At the event, USA was also recognized with the association's annual Diversity Award.

Dr. Martinez, who specializes in medical genetics, has been with the University for close to 25 years. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cordoba Medical School in Argentina and completed a pediatric residency at Saint John Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Martinez completed a neonatology fellowship at Saint John Hospital in Detroit and a medical genetics fellowship at USA.
