Med School Café - Expert Advice For The Community

This week's Med School Café lecture, "Handling the Stress Associated with the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill," provided an interactive forum where participants could ask questions about mental health issues relating to the oil spill. Dr. Ronald Franks, vice president for health sciences and professor of psychiatry at the USA College of Medicine, along with Dr. Sandra Parker, vice-chair of the department of psychiatry at USA and chief medical officer of AltaPointe Health Systems, led the forum.

Video from this lecture will be posted online by next week. To view an article that appeared in the Press-Register prior to this week's lecture, visit http://blog.al.com/live/2010/07/handling_oil_spill_stress_focu.html

August's Med School Café will feature Dr. Hanes Swingle, associate professor of pediatrics at the USA College of Medicine. Dr. Swingle will lecture on Autism Spectrum Disorders. If you are interested in attending, email kebarnes@usouthal.edu for details.
